Butterflies abound	This little guy was making his way across a little-traveled road (which was good for him based on his speed). Elena was kind enough to "give him a lift" into the grass (likely also good for him).

Just hangin' out at the Great Plains Nature Center, Wichita (5/12)	Follow your nose, it always knows! (good advice from the experts at the Great Plains Nature Center)


Can you believe this eagle got this close to Elena, making all her wildest dreams come true?!?	King snakes are called such because they eat other snakes...yikes!

These pink flowers bloomed alongside the nature path.	Jonathan getting super excited for a free wine tasting at Wyldewood Cellars Winery, Mulvane - Good thing they also had grape juice!!


Elena gives the Elderberry jam two thumbs up (free wine tasting included jellies, fudge and mustards ~ DELICIOUS!!)	Among the varieties of tasting wines were many fruit flavors (Elderberry, Raspberry, Blackberry, Peach, and Cherry to name a few). Jonathan's favorite was Prairie Sunset- so we bought a bottle for later

Not an eagle, but soaring like one	At the city park in Hoisington, KS - good thing we left ours in the van!


Driving into Cheyenne Bottoms to view wetlands and wildlife, these guys were just hanging out in the middle of the road until we disturbed their peace	A quarter mile down this dirt path towards Cheyenne Bottoms, we made an important decision: heed all signs indicating impassability!


The enormous sprinkler/irrigation contraption in one of the many huge crop fields in Kansas	Anyone know exactly what this is and what it does (besides go up and down into the ground)? If so, let us know.
